CSR in the tourism industry: Sustainability as a central topic at ITB Berlin
At the fourth ITB Corporate Social Responsibility Day prominent experts from the tourism industry and politics discuss strategies, best practices and the economic potential of sustainable tourism.
One focus this year is the social aspect of CSR: Accessible Tourism is the participation of all people, regardless of their physical limitations, disabilities or age, in tourism. In tourism markets with aging customers Accessible Tourism is a competitive advantage. Human rights are universal rights, they can be strengthened or weakened by tourism.
The ITB CSR Day also addresses the question whether the vast number of sustainability labels provides orientation or creates confusion. Furthermore it will be interesting to learn how cities can be more sustainable in the future - this information will be helpful also to further develop city tourism.
The fourth ITB CSR Day once again provides suggestions for business strategies. On the basis of new empirical studies, recommendations for dealing with different customer segments are given. A special highlight is the outlook keynote of visionary Jochen Zeitz, founder of the Zeitz Foundation.
