ITB Book Awards 2018: the winners
Award winners include Andrea Böhm, Nino Haratischwili, Matthias Politycki, Ulrich Schmid, Detlev von Oppeln and Ulrich Wickert
The winners of the ITB Book Awards 2018 have been decided upon. The book titles include ’Frankreich muss man lieben, um es zu verstehen’ by Ulrich Wickert, ’Couchsurfing in Russland. Wie ich fast zum Putin-Versteher wurde’ by Stephan Orth, and the illustrated travel book ’Syrien. Ein Land ohne Krieg’ by Lutz Jäkel and Lamya Kaddor. The focus of the Destination Award is on Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the partner country of the show. The ITB Book Awards recognise publications in various categories and on a range of topics from both Germany and abroad. This year, for the first time, ITB Berlin is collaborating with Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels (the German Publishers and Booksellers Association). The aim of the awards is to draw attention to outstanding and important travel and tourism publications for the discerning reader. The ITB Book Awards do not confer money prizes.
At the Frankfurt Book Fair a new category selected by the jury of the ITB Book Awards will be presented, namely the ’Frankfurt Book Fair Guest of Honour' (2018: Georgia).
The presentation of the ITB Book Awards 2018 will be moderated by Mary Amiri and take place at the Palais am Funkturm on Friday, 09 March 2018 at 4 p.m..
