Mike Louagie started 30 years ago as a freelance photographer, specialised in shipping. The idea to combine photography and shipping found its origin in a double passion: yachting and photography.
Born in Oostende (Belgium), his first customer was the Oostende-Dover ferry line. The following years he worked for more and more ferry companies, ports and B2B publications. Legend of the Seas and AIDA were his introduction to the world of cruising. He became friends with Swedish publisher Klas Brogren, and together many books were produced about new passenger ships. In 2009 Mike was asked to become chief editor for the B2B magazine Cruise & Ferry Info. What started with a ‘let’s try it’ attitude eventually lasted for seven years.
Since 2017 he is the co-founder and editor of the weekly B2B newsletter Ferry Shipping News.
Some years ago, Mike Louagie started to focus on destination-intensive cruises, welcoming of course the boom in expedition cruises.
His customers are several cruise companies, magazines worldwide, suppliers, ports, designers, etc..
As a frequently invited speaker he likes to inspire people with his photographs and stories. Antarctica is his preferred topic.
